Does Your Photographer Take Charge?

It's annoying when you work with someone who is overbearingly controlling, but it's especially annoying to work with someone who defers to you for every tiny little thing. You should hire a photographer who is experienced enough to not need to ask you questions about everything, like where to stand during the ceremony or how to edit the photos. You as the bride or groom are going to be very busy, and if the photographer does have questions, he or she should get in touch with the wedding planner, site manager, or officiant.

Of course you want to have some control of your photos, so if you do have any specific requests, the photographer should take those into consideration. At the end of the day, you are paying for the photos (but keep in mind that you aren't paying the photographer for a hundred re-edits of the shots either).

You have to find a balance between a photographer who is overbearingly in charge and one who does not take any control. A good rule of thumb is to ask a photographer if they are open to any suggestions and edits. If they are but they seem to have general guidelines for how they usually work, that's probably your best bet.

Also, make sure that you'll have the ability to choose the music for your slideshow if you want to. There's nothing more annoying than having a beautiful wedding slideshow edited to music you wind up not liking.
